Balldemic doesn't care about your plans. A slow-moving wall of colored balls starts at the top of the screen and inches downward, and the only thing standing between you and a game over screen is a cannon that points wherever your mouse goes. You click to fire a ball upward into the stack. Match three of the same color and they vanish, along with any orphans dangling beneath them. It sounds simple—because it is—but the moment two new rows spawn and your cannon loads a color you really didn't want, the panic sets in. What got me was the rhythm. You'll find a groove lining up bank shots off the side walls, dropping a red into a pocket of reds that nobody else could reach. The ball physics feel tight, not floaty, so when you miss, you know exactly why. The Esc key pulls up a menu mid-run, which I used more than I'd like to admit, mostly to take a breath after a near-wipe. The game ramps up by adding more colors and speeding up the descent; around level five it stops being a chill puzzle and becomes a twitchy arcade shooter. For a free unblocked game, Balldemic has no business being this replayable. It's one of those titles you open during a five-minute break and suddenly it's dark outside. If you like Bubble Shooter but wish it had more teeth, this one's for you.
