Black Hole Solitaire takes the classic tableau and twists it into a single-minded race: feed every card into the hole by moving up or down one rank. No suits matter here — just numbers. Seven of clubs? Play a six or an eight. King? Ace works, because the ranks wrap. That little rule changes everything about how you approach the board. The easy mode gives you a safety net: empty spaces appear as piles clear, and you can park cards there to unblock lower layers. I relied on those pockets constantly to dig for a buried five when I needed it. Hard mode is the same layout minus the crutches. No empty spaces to tuck cards into. You see a three and an eight on top, and if you can't chain them to the black hole, you just stare at the deck and regret every earlier move. The real hook for me was the moment I stopped thinking in suits and started thinking in chains. Instead of worrying about color or suit, you hunt for runs — four, five, six, seven — and try to keep both directions open. That's where hard mode gets nasty: one wrong feed and you've cut off the only path from a pile of cards you still need to reach.

Your goal is to move all cards to the black hole by either counting up or counting down in value. If you play in easy mode you have the ability to move cards to empty spaces, if you're up for a challenge you play in hard mode and really have to plan ahead

Always check both directions from the black hole — a card can go up or down, so a 10 might eat a 9 or a Jack.
