Cannon Defenses is what happens when someone strips tower defense down to clicks, drags, and color matching. You buy a cannon with a tap, watch it pop onto the grid, then start hunting for its twin. Drag one cannon onto another of the same shade and they fuse into something angrier. The first merge feels like a small victory; the third or fourth sends a proper volley downrange. I kept catching myself hesitating over merges because a bad pairing leaves a gap for the incoming wave. The board itself becomes a little puzzle. You can drag cannons to empty slots to shift your line, which sounds trivial until the right side starts getting hammered and you need to swap a high-level cannon out of traffic. The colors keep things readable, but the temptation to over-merge is real. Sometimes it's smarter to leave two mid-tier cannons firing than to combine them into one slow-firing beast and leave a hole. That risk-reward tug is the whole game.
