Hard Craft is a side-scrolling platformer that strips away all the fluff and keeps the pain. You get three keys—A, D, and W—and a whole lot of ways to mess up. The blocky little world looks almost friendly until you hit the first spike pit for the tenth time. That's when the game's real name starts making sense. It'll offer a suspiciously easy-looking shortcut that turns out to be a trap, while the safer route is hidden off-screen. I found myself replaying stages over and over, not out of frustration (okay, maybe a little) but because each death taught me something new. Hard Craft isn't for the faint of heart, but if you enjoy the kind of game where your own thumbs are the final boss, this one will eat hours.
