Monster Haul drops you into a cramped arena with one job: don't die. You strafe with WASD, your cursor points the guns, and the shooting happens automatically — which sounds lazy until you realize you'll spend every second repositioning, kiting, and praying the next upgrade card gives you something that doesn't suck. The card system is where the game gets its hooks in. After each wave you'll pick one of three upgrades, and the choices actually matter. I grabbed a piercing shot early and it completely changed my run — suddenly those conga lines of green slimes turned into free XP instead of a death sentence. Other runs, I went heavy on movement speed and just ran circles around the bigger brutes until they bled out. You'll die a lot, but the runs are short and the restart is instant, so it's easy to say 'one more try' six times in a row. On mobile, twin-stick controls work surprisingly well — left thumb moves, right thumb aims and fires. Just remember to tap the upgrade card quickly because the next wave doesn't wait for your indecision.

Prioritize movement speed upgrades early; you'll need to kite the fast enemies before you can outgun them. Don't grab damage upgrades if your aim is shaky — fire rate and spread make auto-fire far more forgiving. The upgrade cards pause the game, so take your time reading the descriptions before hitting 1, 2, or 3. On mobile, keep your right thumb near the screen edge so your aim isn't blocked by your own hand. If you see a piercing or ricochet upgrade, take it. It's basically a cheat code for crowd control. Mute the game if the constant gunfire gets on your nerves; the sound design is fun but repetitive after a few runs.
