I'll be honest, I didn't expect much from a Pretty Cure fan game, but Pretty Cure 4 surprised me. The combat has a nice rhythm to it: you zip across the screen, land a few glittering hits, then back off before the shadowy minions swarm you. Each Cure character I tried felt distinct—one lobs wide energy arcs, another sticks to quick pokes, and a third can heal herself mid-fight, which completely changes how aggressive you can get. The controls are mouse-only, which sounds limiting but works surprisingly well. You click to move, click enemies to attack, and hold for a charged special. I kept forgetting the charged special existed until a cluster of monsters cornered me—then I remembered and cleared half the screen with a rainbow explosion. It's not a deep fighting game, but it nails the 'one more round' feeling. Stages are short, enemies get meaner, and there's a nice escalation from 'cute fairy monsters' to 'purple doom orbs that track you down'. You won't find a story mode or unlockables here. It's a score-attack brawler at heart. Each run lasts five or ten minutes, and the leaderboard (if it's online) gives you a reason to push for higher combos. I'd say it's best in short bursts—lunch break, waiting for a download, that kind of thing. The audio is chiptune-y and cheerful, which clashes hilariously with the chaos on screen.
