Reiten Simulator drops you onto a horse with a weapon and very little hand-holding. You steer with WASD or the arrows, squeeze Shift to push your mount faster, and tap Space when a fence or ditch gets in the way. The F key is your lifeline: hold it to climb into the saddle, release to slide back down. I spent my first two minutes getting thrown into the air off a jump, then immediately trampled by my own horse. That's when I understood the game's charm. Combat is simple but satisfying. Number keys 1, 2, and 3 swap between weapons on the fly, so you can test whether a spear's reach beats a sword's speed. The world is wide, mostly flat, and open enough that you can circle around enemies or bait them into a fence corner. There's no tutorial beyond the control list, and the AI isn't polite. Enemies will flank you on foot and sometimes knock you off your horse, which forces you to remount while getting stabbed. It's clunky in a way that feels intentional, like an early open-world combat prototype. Mute with M if the sound effects get repetitive. It won't win awards for polish, but if you like mounted chaos and weapon swapping under pressure, it scratches a specific itch.
