The original Streets Of Rage didn't waste time on story — three ex-cops, one corrupt city, and a whole lot of thugs asking for a beating. You pick Axel, Blaze, or Adam (each with different speed, reach, and special moves), then march left to right through neon-lit streets, subway stations, and a final showdown on a yacht. The highlight for me has always been local co-op: you and a friend back-to-back, surrounded by knife-wielding punks, calling in a police car rocket strike that somehow only hits the bad guys. It's gloriously unfair in your favor and still satisfying thirty years later. Combat is simple but deceptively deep. You have a basic combo, a jump kick, and a back attack for when enemies surround you — but the real fun is grabbing someone, kneeing them in the gut, then tossing them into three of their friends. Or picking up a pipe and hearing that *clang* as it connects. Yeah, there are cheap deaths: those dominatrix whip enemies can lock you in a corner, and the bosses like to spam slide attacks. But that's part of the charm. You learn spacing, you learn when to use your screen-clearing special (which costs health, so no spamming), and you start treating every encounter like a tiny puzzle. This unblocked version runs right in your browser with click/tap controls that actually work better than they have any right to — though if you can plug in a gamepad or use arrow keys, do it.
