The camera only moves when you shove your mouse to the edge of the screen, which sounds clumsy but actually gives it this tense RTS vibe where you have to watch multiple corners at once. The map is littered with survivor holdouts and strange glowing meteors that act as waypoints or chunks of something valuable. I clicked a meteor expecting a pickup and instead my horde redirected straight through a strip mall full of armed humans — it turned into a glorious meat grinder. You can pause with P, which I abused constantly to reassign targets before my zombies wandered into a kill zone. Sound is optional via M, but honestly the wet squelching noises are half the fun. It's not a deep strategy game. You won't find tech trees or unit upgrades. But as a pick-up-and-play swarm simulator, The Rise Of Zombies nails that power fantasy of watching your numbers grow and the city slowly fall.
