The first time you hear a scuttling sound just outside your makeshift shelter, you'll freeze. Then you'll realize the light from your fire is broadcasting your location to everything in a mile radius. Do you douse the flames and sit in darkness, or risk staying warm and visible? Those split-second calls define the game. Movement is slow and deliberate when you're sneaking, but sprinting drains your stamina and creatures hear every footfall. Some enemies can be scared off with a torch; others will just get angrier. I died three times before I learned not to fight a pack of those dog-lizard things head-on. Death happens a lot. But each run teaches you something—a new shortcut through the canyon, a better hiding spot under the rock overhang, a trick to lure a stalker into a spiked pit. I kept coming back just to see if I could get a little further, and that's the hook. The loop is brutal but fair, and when you finally string together a whole night without getting eaten, it feels earned. Just don't get cocky after the first sunrise; the planet has a way of humbling you.
