Halloween Ghouls drops you onto a spooky field with a handful of coins and a very thin line of defense. You buy towers from the bottom bar, plonk them onto the grass, then hit start wave and see what crawls out of the dark. It's a classic lane-free tower defense, but the Halloween skin does a lot of heavy lifting — jack-o'-lantern cannons, cauldron traps, maybe a bat that dive-bombs. The first few waves are teasers: a couple of slow zombies, some cackling imps, nothing your basic arrow tower can't handle. The real test hits around wave seven or eight, when armored ghouls and fast werewolf-like things start mixing. I remember stacking acid-spitters near a T-junction and watching a line of mummies melt just before the exit — that's the kind of 'aha' that keeps you tinkering. Placement matters more than raw power; a tower with long range on a corner can cover two paths, while a short-range shotgun blast is wasted if you stick it in the middle of nowhere. Selling towers gives partial refund, so don't be afraid to tear down a bad spot. The difficulty curve is fair but gets mean — expect to restart a wave or two if you blow your starting cash on the wrong upgrade. There's no story, no hand-holding, just you, your towers, and a bunch of ghoulish creatures that want your brains (or whatever the pumpkin is guarding). If you like tower defense with a horror-lite vibe, this one's a solid snack. I'd suggest a couple of practice runs before you commit to the harder maps.

Build your first tower near a corner so it covers two stretches of road at once. Don't blow all your coins on upgrades before wave five — save for a second tower. Fast ghouls slip past slow-firing towers; sprinkle cheap arrow towers to catch the leakers. Sell a tower you placed badly early — the refund is better than watching it sit useless. Watch the wave preview if there's one; armored enemies need acid or magic damage, not arrows. Hit start wave only when you're set — there's no pause once they begin spawning.
