I wasn't expecting much from a game called Key & Sheild, but it's the kind of stripped-down puzzle platformer that sneaks up on you. You're a little pixel knight dropped into single-screen rooms. Each level is a little logic problem: can you bait the enemy away, slip past the spikes while they're retracted, and still have enough shield juice for the final corridor? I remember one room with three moving saw blades and a key perched on a ledge. I died maybe fifteen times before I noticed the saws follow a symmetrical pattern and there's actually a safe spot behind the central pillar. That moment of 'oh, duh' is why I kept playing. The retro pixel art is clean without being flashy, and the music loops are the kind you'll hum without meaning to. It's not a long game, but it respects your time — every death is your fault, not the game's cheap hitboxes. If you like puzzle platformers like old-school Fireboy and Watergirl or that one weird Flash game where you had to time everything perfectly, you'll feel right at home. Fair warning: the later levels require patience and a bit of trial and error. But that's the whole point.

Enemies often reset when you move to a different screen, use that to your advantage. Spikes on the ceiling are mean, watch their pattern before moving.
