The controls are simple — A and D to move, Space to leap, J for a quick club swing, K to hurl a spear. That's it. The joy comes from how those four inputs collide with the environment. A pterodactyl swoops down, you sidestep and toss a spear into its wing. A raptor charges from behind, you jump over a log and it smacks into the trunk instead. These little moments feel earned. I died a lot early on, mostly because I tried to fight everything instead of running. The game rewards patience more than aggression. You'll learn to bait dinosaurs into traps, use ledges to break line of sight, and save your spears for enemies you can't reach with the club. One run I finally cleared the first area with zero spears left and two health points — then immediately fell into a spike pit. I laughed, then restarted. That's the loop: short bursts of tension followed by a quick reset that makes you say 'one more try.' There's no save system and no hand-holding. The difficulty is fair but unforgiving, and every screen feels hand-placed. If you grew up on retro platformers like Joe and Mac or Adventure Island, this scratches that exact itch. It's not long, but you'll replay it just to prove you can beat it without dying. And you probably can't.
