You play as a bearded viking with surprisingly good cardio. The dragon behind you doesn't stop, so you're constantly moving right, leaping over gaps, sliding under low hanging beams, and grabbing coins like they're the last mead at a feast. The controls are simple—arrow keys or on-screen buttons—but the timing gets tight as the stage scrolls faster. I died at least a dozen times before I got the rhythm down, and I'm not ashamed to admit I yelled at my laptop once or twice. The HD in the title isn't just for show. The pixel art is clean and colorful, with little details like birds scattering when you sprint past. The dragon's breath lights up the screen in orange and red, and the sound of it cracking behind you makes your thumbs twitch. There are also hidden paths up high that reward you with extra coins if you're brave enough to jump for them instead of just surviving. That risk/reward tension is what kept me coming back—do I chase that coin cluster or stick to the safe route? Usually I go for it, and usually I die, but the respawn is fast enough that it's more funny than frustrating. There are boss fights too, which is a nice surprise for a runner. The dragon will occasionally turn around and you have to dodge its fireballs while still moving forward. It's not Dark Souls hard, but it'll make you sit up straight. If you like platformers or just want something quick to play during a break, this one's worth your time. Just don't throw your keyboard when the dragon gets you for the twentieth time.
